A community-based arts project is underway at Penn State Lehigh Valley and community members will have the unique opportunity to be partner to the project, in an effort to spread awareness about the Spotted Lanternfly infestation in Pennsylvania and beyond. The SFZones Project artist, Elsabé Dixon, gave a presentation at Penn State Lehigh Valley on June 17, 2019 where staff, faculty, and committee members were briefed on the project.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
Community members and interested partners can contribute to the Spotted Lanternfly Zones of Syncopation (SFZones) project in three different capacities:

PROCESSING

PINNING

WORKSHOPS
Artist, Elsabé Dixon, will offer a hands-on demonstrations and presentations for community groups and individuals who would like to participate in SFZones. Dixon will discuss the history of the project, the needs and explain the various ways the community can partner in creating the project. Each participating group will receive a group-foamboard onto which they can pin their insect wings and each group will receive specific colored mapping pins to pin their wings. Workshop attendees will learn best practices for catching and storing the Spotted Lanternfly wings, processes for extracting the wings, and how to pin the wings for the final product!

August 24th: Penn State Lehigh Valley (10am to 12pm) and The Cave Brewing Company (2pm to 4pm)
